A game of spicy negotiations! Uwe Rosenberg’s classic bean-trading game is back, now as a chili-trading game with brand-new art by Stephanie Böhm. You’re growing chili peppers, harvesting them for gold, and trying to end the game richer than everyone else. That sounds simple enough, except for one gloriously annoying rule: you have to play your cards in the exact order you drew them. That means the only way out of a bad hand is to get someone else to want what you’re holding. Get ready for forty-five minutes of dealmaking, friendly arm-twisting, and “wait, wait, hear me out!”
Gameplay Overview: Bohnanza is one of the all-time great trading games, and its twist is what makes it so much fun: you can never rearrange your hand. You plant chilis in your fields from the front of your hand, so when a card you don’t want comes up next, you’ll need to trade it away before it ruins your plans. Every turn, the whole table jumps in, offering deals, sweetening trades, and sometimes giving away cards just to help each other out. Each field can only hold one kind of chili at a time, so planting the wrong one means harvesting early and getting less gold. The more of one variety you grow, the more it’s worth when you harvest. It’s lively, social, and full of laughs, and it’s a perfect choice for groups who love to talk, bargain, and occasionally beg.
