Cascadia: Alpine Lakes is a standalone follow-up to the hit spatial puzzle game Cascadia, co-published by AEG and Flatout Games. Players continue the journey to create the most diverse Pacific Northwest environment, drafting new double-hexagon habitat tiles and unique new wildlife tokens to build out, and up, their beautiful landscape. Each game features a unique mix of scoring goals based on how five wildlife species are arranged across three different alpine habitats. Players also score for how well surrounded and elevated their lakes and wildlife are. Habitat and environment scoring cards add their own conditions, so each game offers a new spatial challenge with thousands of possible combinations. It was designed by Randy Flynn, Molly Johnson, Robert Melvin, and Shawn Stankewich, with art by Beth Sobel and Dylan Mangini.

Gameplay Overview: Turns in Alpine Lakes are just as simple as in the original: pick a habitat tile and wildlife token pair, then add them to your growing landscape. This time, though, every habitat tile is a double hexagon, and tiles can be stacked on top of each other, turning your environment into a three-dimensional puzzle. Each habitat scores in its own way, and you’ll earn points for raising your wildlife up high and surrounding your lakes just right. Scoring cards change every game, so you’ll always have a fresh challenge to solve. Chunky wooden wildlife tokens and a cloth bag give it a lovely tactile feel. It plays solo or with up to four players, and there’s a family scoring option for younger or newer players. It’s a calm, satisfying puzzle that’s great for families, couples, and anyone who loves building something beautiful.
