In Dungeons & Kittens, one player takes on the role of the Storyteller. They set the scene and play the role of everyone, from the tyrannical King Walter, greedy overlord of the cats, to the folk the kittens encounter on their journeys.

Don’t worry about reading dozens of pages of rules before you can play. The introductory adventure is written to teach the players and the Storyteller how to play. The Dungeons & Kittens Starter Set puts you right into the action. It also includes all the dice and tokens you need to play, along with five adorable kitten adventurers for players to choose from.

Your first adventure eases the Storyteller and the players into the world of Dungeons & Kittens, teaching the rules as the players are exiled from their home city by King Walter and forced to survive on their own. When your first game has wrapped up, you’ll know how to play and will have uncovered an evil plot that threatens the world.

Once you have completed the first adventure, the Starter Set provides two complete stories to play through. The menace uncovered in your first game must be defeated. The kittens embark on a quest to defeat this foe. They’ll explore a dungeon, interact with strange and exciting characters, and seize their chance to become the heroes that the realm needs!

Dungeons & Kittens is designed as the perfect first step for anyone looking to hop into the tabletop roleplaying hobby. Everything the players need to know is recorded on their character sheet, from their special skills to the meow-gical spells they have learned. The clear, simple rules allow the Storyteller to keep the action moving. In fact, we can explain 90% of the rules right now!

When a player wants to do something in the game, they describe what their kitten tries to do. The Storyteller picks which of the kitten’s three abilities are important for that action: Strong for physical tasks, Smart for intellectual ones, and Cute for social. The player rolls three six-sided dice and compares each one to the chosen ability’s score. If a die equals the score or lower, that’s a success! More successes mean the kitten does even better.

While the rules are simple, characters in Dungeons & Kittens have a lot of personality. A kitten’s character trait or the useful tools they carry can let them reroll the dice. Their skills allow them to roll an extra dice. When things are tough, their meow-gical spells can get them out of a jam.
