Mystery of the Abbey is a whodunit deduction game in the spirit of Clue. A monk has been murdered in a medieval French Abbey. Players maneuver their way through the Abbey examining clues and questioning each other to find out who is the culprit.
Gameplay Overview
Mystery of the Abbey is a richly atmospheric whodunit deduction game from Bruno Faidutti and Serge Laget — the designers behind classics like Citadels and Pillars of the Earth — set in a medieval French abbey where a monk has been found murdered. Players move their own monk pawns through the abbey's interconnected rooms, questioning suspects, attending mass, searching the cloister, and gradually narrowing down the list of suspects through a combination of direct interrogation and clever inference. Unlike Clue, the interrogation mechanic here is dynamic: you choose who to question and what to ask, and the answers you receive (and don't receive) are as revealing as the cards themselves. The beautiful 3D abbey board, illustrated by Naïade, gives the game a genuine sense of place that makes the deduction feel like real investigation. This 2025 Mojito Studios edition brings the beloved classic back into print with fresh production for a new generation of mystery fans.
