Gameplay Overview Othello is one of the most enduring two-player abstract strategy games ever made — deceptively simple to learn, endlessly deep to master. The board starts nearly empty, and on each turn you place a disk of your color, enclosing at least one of your opponent's disks between your new piece and another of yours. Every enclosed disk flips to your color, and the board can swing dramatically from move to move. With only 64 squares and a handful of rules, the entire game fits in your head — but mastering the endgame, corner strategy, and positional control takes far longer.
