Dig deep, trust no one! In Saboteur, everyone gets a secret role. The gold miners are building a tunnel from the start card toward the treasure. The saboteurs are doing everything they can to make sure that tunnel goes nowhere, all while sitting right there at the table acting helpful. On your turn, you can play a path card, break someone’s lantern so they can’t dig, or drop a rockfall on a tunnel that’s getting a little too close. Nobody can prove anything, and everybody has a theory. Every round ends with at least one person yelling, “I KNEW it was you!”
Gameplay Overview: Saboteur is a classic hidden-role card game that’s easy to teach and full of suspicion. Most players are honest dwarf miners working together to dig toward the gold, but a few secret saboteurs are hiding among them. On your turn, you either add a tunnel card to the growing mine or play an action card, such as breaking another player’s tools, fixing your own, or blasting away a section of tunnel. The fun is in reading the table. Was that dead-end path an honest mistake, or sabotage? Did they break your pickaxe because they’re suspicious of you, or because they’re the saboteur? If the miners reach the treasure, they share the gold, and if they don’t, the saboteurs win. With room for up to ten players and quick rounds, it’s a fantastic choice for big groups, family gatherings, and anyone who enjoys a little friendly accusing.
