Ticket to Ride: First Journey is quick to learn and quick to play, which makes it the perfect introduction to the Ticket to Ride series. Players collect train cards, claim routes on the map, and try to connect the cities on their tickets. The game opens with a grandfather telling his grandkids about his days as a railroad engineer, when he traveled to New York, Chicago, and LA. The trip he remembers most is his very first one. Gameplay Overview: First Journey keeps the heart of Ticket to Ride and trims the rules down for younger players. On your turn, you either draw train cards or play matching cards to claim a route. Routes are short and tickets are easy to read, so kids can see right away where they're going. When you complete a ticket, slap it down on the table and yell "TICKET!" This house rule came from the designer's very first playtest and is now officially part of the game. Bonus tickets reward players who stretch their network from coast to coast. The first player to complete enough tickets takes home the Golden Ticket. The bright, friendly art makes it a great first gateway game for families, and a natural step up to the full-size Ticket to Ride once kids are ready.
