Wingspan is a competitive, medium-weight, card-driven engine-building game from Stonemaier Games in which players seek to attract a diverse array of birds to their wildlife preserves. Each bird card comes with unique abilities and thematic art, and players work to build efficient combos across three habitats — gaining food, laying eggs, and drawing cards as they go.
Gameplay Overview
In Wingspan, players take on the role of bird enthusiasts — researchers, bird watchers, and collectors — developing their nature preserves by playing bird cards into habitats that improve their actions over time. Each turn, players choose from habitat actions that help them gather food from the bird feeder, lay eggs using miniature eggs, or draw more bird cards. Birds played into habitats often trigger powerful abilities that build engine-like effects; at the end of four rounds, players score points from birds, round goals, eggs, cached food, and tucked cards. With a mix of strategy, beautiful components, and thematic depth, Wingspan appeals to both casual and experienced gamers alike.
